Mailbag: Women’s soccer deserves equal pay
The United States women’s soccer team won its fourth world championship and its first back-to-back World Cup titles.
Female soccer at any level has taken a big bounce in growth and popularity, and here’s my vote for improved pay equality for the women to reduce the gap with their male counterparts.
Other random thoughts:
n Deja vu for the game of professional baseball. The Major League All-Star Game is boring and lopsided in terms of the American League mastering the National League. The AL is 25-6-1 in the last 32 all-star games and has a commanding lead in wins over the National League in the World Series.
n Here is my bet for the 2019 fall classic: The Yankees over the Dodgers.
n Too bad WVAM took Cory Giger’s “Sports Central” off the air after some great years with great discussions. WVAM’s loss will be Giger’s gain as some other station will fill the void. I hope he will be back on the air soon.
