Lynnette Williams Award winner
Makalyn Clapper, a graduate of Penn Cambria High School, was the winner of the Lynnette Williams Spirit Award on Sunday. She received it during a ceremony at the Blair Regional YMCA in Hollidaysburg. She is the second non-Blair County player to win the award in its 19-year history. The award was created to recognize a valuable basketball player who performs with a love of and respect for the game, demonstrating those characteristics. She is seen here with Beth Williams, the mother of Lynnette. The award is named in honor of Lynnette, who died in a car accident on Oct. 12, 1999. Clapper helped lead Penn Cambria to a District 6 title last season, was an Altoona Mirror second-team all-star and a third-team all-state performer.
