Light leads Tyrone to huge win

Tyrone Legion out-scored Barton’s Plumbing & Heating, 12-1, in the first two innings in a five-inning 15-3 win in Kelley Federation action Friday night at Mansion Park.

Nic Light was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored for Tyrone (15-4), and Michael Stoner was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Barton’s (12-8) had RBIs from Sean Larson, Zach Metzger and Mitch Barton.

BELWOOD — Martin Oil scored four runs to come back from an early 3-0 hole to beat Patton Legion at Bellwood-Antis High School in the Kelley Federation.

Troy Walker was the winning pitcher, fanning four with one walk, and also drove in two runs for Martin Oil (13-6). Cody Schreyer had two RBIs for Patton Legion, and Seth Link doubled twice.

WILLIAMSPORT — Joe Bukowsky drove in two runs and Evan Alwine drove in one, but Altoona came up on the short end against Broomall-Newtown, 5-3, at the Babe Ruth 14U Pennsylvania State Tournament Friday afternoon.

Altoona fell to 1-1 in pool play, and is back in action today at 2 p.m. against UDHL.

ROARING SPRING — Nick Wiedemer pitched a complete-game shutout, giving up just three hits and striking out six, and Kaden Fisher had two hits and drove home four runs, as Spring Cove blanked Hollidaysburg, 16-0 in an Area 4 VFW tournament playoff game that was stopped by the mercy rule after four innings.

The victory earned Spring Cove (2-0) a berth in the double-elimination tournament championship game Monday at 6 p.m.

Central Penn Jr. Legion

ROARING SPRING — Lambert Palmer collected two hits and two RBIs, and also earned the pitching victory in relief, as Spring Cove edged State College, 5-4 in the Central Pennsylvania Junior Legion playoffs.

Tyler Helsel scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning for Spring Cove, which advanced to the championship game against Tyrone today. Juman Sung had two hits and two RBIs for State College.
