BELLWOOD — Andrew Simpson pitched a complete game for Barton’s Plumbing & Heating, which topped Sheetz in six innings in George B. Kelley Federation action Tuesday at Bellwood-Antis high school.

Sam Mierley had a four-hit, four RBI night including a double and a triple to lead Barton’s (12-6), which scored four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to force the mercy rule.

Wes McCall drove in two runs for Sheetz (5-10).

MARTINSBURG –Devon Boyles did not allow a hit and struck out seven through four innings of work to get Spring Cove an 8-0 win over Pleasant Gap in a Central Penn Junior American Legion second-round playoff game Tuesday night.

Jonah Snowberger went 4-for-4 for Spring Cove. Boyles and Tyler Oakes both had multi-hit performances.

Spring Cove advanced to play Tyrone on Thursday.

Altoona Teener Minor

MILROY –Altoona won the Babe Ruth 14U District 8 championship on Sunday at Armaugh Field, defeating Mifflin County, 8-3.

Ethan Hileman, Evan Alwine and Gavin Ridgeway each drove in two runs for Altoona in the win. Alwine also was the game’s winning pitcher with two strikeouts and a walk. Ethan Brown and Ben Staplefield also had an RBI each.

Altoona will play Boyertown in the first round of the Pennsylvania state tournament, which begins Thursday in Williamsport.
