Glendale, Claysburg stay close
Claysburg-Kimmel and Glendale both will stay in the Mirror’s coverage area as they move into the quarterfinal round of the PIAA Class 1A softball playoffs.
The District 6 champion Lady Bulldogs will take on District 9 champion DuBois Central Catholic very close to home at Mount Aloysius at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Glendale, the District 6 runner-up, will play District 3 champion Millersburg at Everett the same day at 4 p.m.
If the Lady Vikings win, they would play either District 11 champion Williams Valley or District 2 champion Old Forge in the semifinals. If C-K wins, it would play WPIAL champion West Greene or District 9 runner-up Clarion Monday in the semifinals.
In the PIAA Class 3A baseball bracket, District 6 runner-up Philipsburg-Osceola will look to continue its run by taking on District 10 champion Franklin in DuBois at Showers Field at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
A victory in that game could mean a District 6 championship game rematch with Mount Union, as the Mounties would take on the winner of the Trojans and WPIAL runner-up Hopewell on Monday in the semifinals.
