Briggs pitches Johnston’s to victory

Ben Briggs pitched five innings with four strikeouts and held BMG Construction to one run in Johnston Realty’s 11-1 win Wednesday in Juniata in a Greater City League-AAABA crossover game.

The game was called after six innings because of the mercy rule.

Cory Storm, Lennox Pugh, Tyler Treese and Allen Mackey each drove in two runs for Johnson, which jumped on top 6-1 after two innings to improve to 5-0.

Nate Teno scored BMG’s only run in the first inning.

Blair County Oil 6

Matt Parks’ six RBIs and two runs scored led Cumming Motors in a six-inning win over Blair County Oil at Mansion Park.

Keaton Nolan had three RBIs on 2-for-3 hitting with two runs scored for Cumming, and Derek Shaw and Adam Sinisi each had two RBIs. Bubba Johnson had four strikeouts to get the win in relief.

Dylan Conrad scored twice for Blair County Oil.

Pearson, Colson Lewis, David Lang and Rodney Shultz each drove in two runs for Tyrone Legion (4-1), and Blaine Hoover scored twice.

Justin Herman and Jase Hostler combined on a two-hit shutout in Eldorado Kiwanis’ 10-0 win over McMullen Furniture in an Altoona Teener League Lowey Division game at Seitz Field.

Gabe Moser and Payton Harman each had three RBIs and Tysen LaRocco doubled and tripled for two RBIs.

Eldorado improved to 8-3 with the win.

J.T. Kormanski doubled and drove in three runs to lead D. Merl Tipton to a 10-8 win over City Beverage in an Area 4 VFW game.

Teammate Trenton Butler also drove in two runs. Winning pitcher Luke Bettwy worked four-plus innings. He struck out three in helping his team improve to 6-1.

Evan Alwine had three hits for City Beverage (5-2). He also struck out five in getting the loss.

Junior American Legion

BEECH CREEK — Spring Cove needed only four innings to hang a 17-0 win on Beech Creek in a Pa. Junior American Legion contest.

Tyler Oakes, the winning pitcher, and Jeff Hoenstine combined on a one-hit shutout. Oakes struck out two while Hoenstine struck out one.

Offensively, Parker Gregg had three hits and two RBIs to go with two hits and three RBIs from Jonah Snowberger. Oakes and Hoenstine also had two hits each.
