Top seeds going to area jumpers

From Mirror reports

Three jumpers from the Mirror coverage area earned top seeds for this weekend’s PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.

Chestnut Ridge sophomore Logan Pfister earned the top seed in the Class 2A boys high jump, Penn Cambria junior Lyric Janosik is tops in the Class 2A girls long jump, and Bishop Carroll senior Maddie Murphy earned the No. 1 spot in the Class 2A girls triple jump.

Seedings are based strictly on performances at recent district championship meets. The top eight finishers at states in each event will receive medals.

Others from the area who appear to have a decent shot at medaling by earning a top eight seed include:

n Chestnut Ridge’s Duane Knisely is seeded third in both the Class 2A boys shot put and discus.

n Central Cambria’s Paige Wess is seeded fourth in the Class 2A girls 800-meter run, and she also runs on the CC 3200 and 1600 relays, which are seeded third and fifth, respectively.

n Janosik and Bishop Carroll’s Caroline Ratchford are tied for fourth in the Class 2A girls high jump with 11 other competitors.

n The Altoona boys 400 relay team is seeded seventh in Class 3A.

n Bishop Carroll’s Kaleb Hilyer has the eighth seed in the Class 2A boys javelin.
