P-O dominates tournament

Kylie Adams fired a one-hitter and two-hitter to help Philipsburg-Osceola defeat Hollidaysburg, 13-0, and Altoona, 13-1, in the Altoona Area High School Softball Tournament on Saturday at Logan Elementary Field.

Roselyn Weaver had three hits against Hollidaysburg, and Kam Harris and Adria Lewis each had two.

Maddie Lucas hit two home runs and drove in four runs for Philipsburg-Osceola against Altoona.

Weaver collected three hits and two RBIs, and Hannah Minarchick drove in two. Adams had 15 strikeouts in the two games.

Also in the tourney, Hollidaysburg beat Cambria Heights, 4-3, and Heights topped Altoona, 11-1.

Lions fall in quarters

DALLASTOWN — Altoona bowed out of the Dallastown Invitational Saturday in the quarterfinal round, falling to Dallastown, 25-16, in area high school volleyball.

The Mountain Lions went 6-2 in pool play with match wins over Redland (25-21), Spring Grove (25-18, 25-19) and Susquehannock (25-22, 25-19) with a loss to Carlisle (25-17, 25-23).

In the round of 16, Altoona topped Haverford, 25-14.

Dalton Keller led all Mountain Lions with 35 kills, 33 digs and 10 aces total, followed by Andy Cassidy with 20 kills, eight digs and three blocks. Matt Furrer had a team-high 39 assists, while Chris Ball had 36 assists.
