Lions’ Barnes, relay prevail

H.S. track and field

PITTSBURGH — The Altoona boys had two first places in the 30-team South Hills Track and Field Classic at Baldwin High School on Saturday.

Altoona’s Isaiah Barnes won the 110-meter hurdles, and the Altoona 400 relay team of Connor Adams, Barnes, Kurt VonColln and Mitchell Lawhead also prevailed.

Placing second were Lawhead in the 200 dash and Liam DeAngelis in the pole vault, and Jacob Corso (high jump) and the 1600 relay team were third.

Chadric Flarend and Lyric Koelle were tied for fifth in the pole vault. Also placing fifth were Lawhead (100 dash), Tyson Carter (high jump) and the 3200 relay, and VonColln was sixth in the 200.

Seventh were Adams (100), Austin Kravetz (300 hurdles), Corso (triple jump), Carter (long jump) and Tristan Weston (high jump).

On the girls side, placing third were Gianna Caputo in the 100 hurdles, Maggie Fox in the 300 hurdles and the 1600 relay team.

Sarah Graham was fourth in the 400, and Rachel Krier was fifth in the pole vault. Placing seventh were Julia Gonsman (high jump) and Harley Price (shot and discus).
