Lady Dragons save their best for last

ROARING SPRING — Central scored two times in the bottom of the seventh of a 1-1 game to beat Tyrone, 3-1, Monday afternoon in high school softball action.

Ashley Negley and Maddi Metzler each had two hits for the Lady Dragons. Negley and Dylan Claycomb each had an RBI.

Claycomb started for Central and struck out eight in five innings. Madison Daugherty worked two innings in relief for the win.

Tyrone, which led 1-0 after four innings of play, got a seven-strikeout performance from starting pitcher Cate Baran. Teammate Maci Brodzina had two hits.

Reese, who had two hits, finished with five RBIs.

Alexis Mulhollen struck out two and walked two in getting the win for the Lady Vikings (10-2).

NEW PARIS — Addy Milliron and Kayla Diehl combined on a five-inning no-hitter in leading Chestnut Ridge to a win over Central Cambria.

Milliron worked four innings, striking out four and walking three. The run scored on a Lady Lions’ error. Diehl worked one inning with one strikeout and one walk.

Offensively, Makayla Weyant had two hits and three RBIs to go with two hits and two RBIs from Milliron in a game that featured a 10-run third inning that broke a 1-1 tie. Teammate Bella Wingard added two hits and an RBI.
