Glendale duo key in win on the road

MORRISDALE — Alaney Vereshack drove in two runs, and Alexis Mulhollen had three hits, drove in a run and got the win for Glendale in a 5-3 victory over West Branch Wednesday afternoon in high school softball action.

The Lady Vikings, who were up 4-3 after three innings, improved to 12-2 while West Branch dropped to 6-5.

HOUTZDALE — Cate Baran struck out 10 for Tyrone in a six-inning shutout of Moshannon Valley.

Maci Brodzina was 4-for-4 and scored two runs for the winners, who led 6-0 after three inings.

Teammate Maecy Tuskovich was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored as the Lady Eagles improved to 9-4.

NORTHERN CAMBRIA — Jessica Krug had two hits and drove home three runs, and Autumn Donatelli had three hits and drove in two runs, to lead Northern Cambria to a six-inning, Heritage Conference mercy-rule victory over Homer-Center.

Camryn Dumm and Zoey Novella had two RBIs apiece for Northern Cambria, which got a one-hit, complete-game effort from Kaitlyn Kudlawiec, who struck out five and walked only one.

WINDBER — Lindsay Mowry and Kaitlyn Brunnelli each had five hits, and Brunelli and Hallie Sisk each drove in three runs in Bedford’s win at Windber.

Jocelyn Black got the win for the Lady Bisons (5-5), who broke open a close game with three runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth.
