Feathers’ big game lifts Central

ROARING SPRING — Cam Feathers homered and drove in four runs, and Dylan Claycomb and Caroline Eckenrode combined to strike out 10 batters and allow just two hits as Central defeated Altoona, 14-1, in high school softball Wednesday.

Alex Dunlap had three hits and drove home two runs for Ridge (7-2 overall), which broke the game open with seven runs in the third inning.

Richland dropped to 0-2 overall.

Westmont Hilltop 9

EBENSBURG — Ashley Deetscreek, Cassidy Bezek, Emily Keiper and winning pitcher Kylie Burket each had three hits as Central Cambria defeated Westmont Hilltop.

Every Lady Red Devil player had a hit. Bezek had three doubles and scored three runs.

Bailey Thornton homered for the Lady Hilltoppers.

CRESSON — Casey Reese had her 100th career hit in the bottom of the eighth inning, but it wasn’t enough for the Lady Panthers to catch up to Bishop McCort, which won in extra innings.

McCort’s Sierra Widmar hit an RBI single in the top of the eighth to give the Lady Crushers the go-ahead run and hand Penn Cambria its first loss.

Penn Cambria’s Gabby Long had a 2-run RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to force extras.
