Mountain Lions split to open up season

RICHMOND, Va. — The Altoona baseball team opened its season on Friday in Richmond, Virginia, losing to Benedictine High School, 6-2, in the first of a twinbill, while coming back to win 15-6 over St. Christopher’s in high school action.

The Mountain Lions, who trailed 4-0 early to Benedictine, got two hits from Jake Hunter and solo RBIs from Adam Sinisi and Donny Moyer.

In the nightcap, Altoona totaled 14 hits en route to a 15-6 win over St. Christopher’s. The Mountain Lions, who trailed 3-0 after three innings, got four hits and two RBIs from Matt Hartman to go with two RBIs each from Brendan Kuhns and Hunter. Teammate Owen Kravetz also homered.

Altoona plays again in Richmond today against Manchester High School.
