AAHS grad finishes up hoop career
Manny Span, an Altoona graduate, recently completed his college basketball career as a member of the Shippensburg University men’s team.
Span finished off a 110-game career with a senior season tht included career bests in points (225), rebounds (218), assists (35), steals (12) and blocks (8). He finished with 108 offensive rebounds, nearly 4.0 per game which had him in the top 10 in the nation in Division II.
The Raiders finished with a 23-7 record, their fourth straight 20-plus win season.

Nathan Davis, a Bellwood-Antis, was recently named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Division men’s basketball first team for Seton Hill University.
Besides being an academic All-American, Davis, a junior, is one of the top scorers on his team and in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

Larry Corle, Central High School graduate, has a batting average of .367, and a OBP of .406 with 11 hits and six runs score in 30 at-bats for the Juniata College baseball team.
He had two singles and scored twice for Juniata as part of a 8-7 win over Penn State Altoona in double-header baseball action Wednesday. Penn State Altoona won the first game, 3-0.

Penn State Altoona pitcher Sawyer Kline has opened the 2019 season strong on the mound for the Lions.
The sophomore from Bellwood-Antis leads the team with 22 strikeouts with an ERA of 0.64. He’s 1-1 with one start and four total appearances this season. He’s allowed 10 hits, one earned run and just five walked batters.

Lindsey Fasolo, an Altoona graduate, batted .389 and hit her first career home run during the Elizabethtown College softball team’s trip to The Spring Games event in Florida.
The sophomore’s homer came during a 16-0, five-inning win over Regis College for the Blue Jays. Elizabethtown went 4-6 on the trip.
