Lady Mounties suffer another setback

DALLAS, Pa. — The Mount Aloysius women’s basketball team fell to 0-4 Saturday afternoon, dropping an 87-76 decision to Gwynedd Mercy.

The Lady Mounties, up 21-20, after one quarter, were outscored, 19-11, in the second frame. Breana Kendrick led the Mount with 20 points and 12 rebounds to go with 18 points from Lea Sammarco. Rachel Robinson came off the bench to score 17 points.

The Lady Griffins (3-2) got 25 points from Chyanne Fine and 18 points from Susan Bossler. Shannon Carroll chipped in with 16 points.

The Mount is at Misericordia at noon today.

Poor second half sinks Lions

LAGRANE, Ga. — The Penn State Altoona men’s basketball team fell to 1-4 Saturday, thanks to an 82-78 loss to Birmingham Southern at the LaGrange Clasic in Georgia.

The Nittany Lions, up 50-39 at halftime, were outscored, 43-28, in the second half.

Shevelle Bailey led Penn State with 26 points while Cameron Gardner-Nicholson added 10 points.

Birmingham got 24 points from Zachary Allison and 11 points from Christian Stewart.

The Nittany Lions will play Berry College in the consolation game today at 4.
