Bobcats capture national tourney title

XENIA, Ohio — Keeper Landon Barnes had two saves and a shutout as Blair County Christian defeated Genoa Christian, 3-0, to claim the National Christian School Athletic Association Division III soccer championship on Saturday.

“It’s always great to go out on top with a win, and when you can win the tournament that you’re in, your guys can feel accomplished, and it helps build on next year,” Blair County Christian coach Matt Osborn said.

Jonathon Hight and Hudson Dull each scored unassisted goals in the first half to give the Bobcats a 2-0 edge at halftime, and Davis Dull scored later in the game to seal the win.

Blair County Christian ended its season at 21-2-1 and champions of the Allegheny Chrstian Athletic Association. It is the first time a school from the ACAA West Division has won the league title in 13 years and the first league title for Blair County Christian since the 1992 season.

“We set a goal at the beginning of the year to win the league after last year. We didn’t lose anyone from that team so we thought we had a good chance coming back,” Osborn said.
