Two teams tie for Elks Club trophy

PHILIPSBURG — The team of Ryan DelBaggio and JP Stultz, along with Andrew Ferguson and Tom Koehle recently tied for first place in the Better Ball of Partners Tournament at the Philipsburg Elks Lodge and Country Club.

Both finished with 65s.

The team of JP Duffy and Austin DelBaggio were third (66), followed by Todd Homan and Keith Saleme (67) and Greg Ferguson and Brett Miller (68).

In the net division, Nate Lucas and Bob Mitchell won with a 61. Gary and Tom Anderson were second (62), followed by a tie at 64 between Art Weitoish and Kevin Knepp, and Hayden Hayward and Jared Anderson.

Elsewhere:

n The team of Gerry Huggler and Bob Lamey went 4-1 during week five of the Big Orange Golf League at the Huntingdon Country Club. Fred Lear and Larry Newton, along with Bill Frazier and Ed Gargula, finished 2-3. Rick Bayer and Jim Lakso went 1-4. Lamey was the low gross winner (32) while Gargula was the low net winner (34). Frazier had the shot of the day, a chip-in on No. 6 for eagle. For Lamey, his last four holes were eagle, birdie, birdie, birdie. The sub for the day was Phil Thompson for Lear

n Mike Clowson was the low gross winner, and Chick Steinbrunner was the low net winner for week six of the Sylvan Hills Golf Club. Skins winners for week six include Ken Stockley, Steinbrunner, Nick Matteson, and Dave Biseli. Ken Stockey shot closest to pin two, and Bucky Miller shot closest to pin four. John Hopkins and Stan Wojcik are the league leaders. In the Sylvan Hills Senior League, the team of John Roland, Steve Downing, Rick Strasser and Gary Zimmerman took first place at a league event held Wednesday. The team of Terry Goldstein, George Sinisi and Randy Roland took second, while Sen Thach, Bob Gray, Pat Dunn and Pat Kibler finished third.

n Steve Algeria, Charlie Taylor, Harry Miller and Pat Cabriola shot a team score 125 for first place at Wednesday’s senior event at the Sinking Valley Country Club. Tom Otto, Bob Brown, John Bernhart and Frank Pallott shot a 130 for second place. Shooting closest to pin were Mike Star (17-1, 10-3), Dick Cruthers (7-0) and Roger Cannen (16-4).

n Mag Weigland stands above the rest with 38 player points at the end of play on June 11 in Summit Country Club Ladies 9-hole Scramble league action. Behind her in second is Tori Acker (34), followed by Christine Sears (32), Rose Storm (30), and a two-way tie for fifth with Therese Perino and Nancy Moore each with sitting with 28 points. Perino, Moore and Acker were the first place team this week. Rita Brouse and Michelle Day had the week’s closest tee shots. In other 9-hole scramble and alt. shot play, Doug and Carrie Fogel towered above the rest of the pack in a tie for first with 37 points each after play ended on Wednesday. Cindy and Len Snowberger are tied for second with 21 points each and in a four-way tie for third, Jim Smith, Sandy Smith, Dale Perino and Therese Perino all hold 17 points. Angie Destefano and Joe Judy were this week’s closest tee shot winners.

n The team of Frank Ieraci, Chris Futrick, Matt Brooks and Dan Panasiti finished as the top team at the recently held Carmelite Community of the World golf outing. Tom Fetsko, John Washko, Greg Petyak and Ed Pastorek teamed up to take second place, while Greg Sweeney, Brendan Sweeny, Craig Bonebrake and Jerry Bonebrake took third. In the Ronald McDonald House Charities outing, the team of Ron Hinish, Robbie Keith, Bryan James and Dennis DeGol claimed topped honors. Jay Pheasant, Mitch Johns, David Degol Sr. and David DeGol Jr. took second. Ryan Lynn, Bob Bigler, Mark Bader and Mike Starr ended the day in third.

n The team of Kathy Casado and Carol Laich combined to shoot a 34 to win the Ladies Tuesday Golf Tournament at the Park Hills Golf Club. Finishing second was the team of Bonnie Kaup and Sue White (40) while Danene Engle and Amy Cyman were third (41). Karen Duffet and Julie Dorman were fourth (49).
