H.S. softball: Everett’s Martin fires no-hitter

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Catherine Miller fired a one-hitter as Huntingdon blanked Hollidaysburg, 4-0, at Legion Park on Wednesday in high school softball action.

Leah Reed and Destiny Beimesdeifer each had two hits for Huntingdon.

THREE SPRINGS — Sophie Brumbaugh’s two-out single in the top of the seventh inning scored McKenna Curman and Ashley Clark with the tying and winning runs to lift Tussey Mountain over Southern Huntingdon.

Faith Barnett, who went the distance to earn the win, forced Southern into a double play to end the game in the bottom of the seventh.

Brumbaugh had two hits and four RBIs, and Maisie Husick had two hits and two RBIs. Cassie Querry homered and drove in three for Southern.

CURWENSVILLE — Kendra Merritt’s three-run homer helped Moshannon Valley beat Curwensville in the season opener for both teams.

Merritt’s homer put the Damsels on the board in the third inning, before piling on four more runs in the fourth, while pitcher Sydney Lewis went the distance to hold Curwensville in check.

Merritt finished with four RBIs and a double, in addition to her home run. Micky Lansberry had three hits for the Damsels, including a double, and Emma Kitko had a three-hit day.
