Curve hammer Fisher Cats; Gonzales to 60-day IL
MANCHESTER, N.H. — The Curve got some bad news on the personnel front early Tuesday, then went out and clobbered their way to victory later in the evening.
Prized infield prospect Nick Gonzales was transferred to the 60-day injured list, meaning he won’t be back until at least early August. Gonzales has a heel injury and hasn’t played since May 31, but the injury wasn’t believed to be too serious until Tuesday’s news broke.
The Curve pounded New Hampshire, 7-1, Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Jared Triolo homered for Altoona, while Matt Gorski drove in three runs.
The Curve scored a run in the first and broke open a tight game with two in the fifth, two in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
Gorski, Liover Peguero, Blake Sabol and Andres Alvarez had two hits apiece for Altoona.
Peguero played his first game since coming back down from a brief stint with the Pirates.
Austin Roberts (3-1) got the win in relief with two scoreless innings, after Jeff Passantino tossed three. The Curve saw top reliever Travis MacGregor promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis.
