Curve pitchers battered in rout at Harrisburg

From Mirror reports

HARRISBURG — Two Curve pitchers endured a disastrous night Thursday in a rough loss to Harrisburg.

Starter Cody Bolton got roughed up for five runs and was chased in the second inning. He didn’t have the worst night, though.

That distinction went to Yeudy Garcia. The Altoona reliever allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings, and he allowed three runs to score from third on wild pitches.

All of that occurred in the second and third innings, and the Senators rolled to a 12-1 win over the Curve at FNB Field.

Bolton gave up a leadoff single in the first but retired the next three batters. He had big problems from the outset in the second inning, allowing a single, walk, single, double and single to the first five batters.

The score was 3-0 when Bolton (2-3) was lifted in favor of Garcia, who immediately threw a wild pitch to let a run score. Garcia did the same later in the inning, with Harrisburg scoring its sixth run of the frame on another wild pitch.

Garcia had more trouble in the third, giving up three straight singles to start the inning. He wound up allowing five runs on six hits in the inning, plus a third run scored on one of his wild pitches.

The Curve were down 11-0 at that point before the bullpen held the Senators to one run the rest of the way.

Altoona scored its lone run in the sixth as Chris Sharpe doubled and came home on a sacrifice fly by Oneil Cruz.

Tyler Mapes (6-6) won for Harrisburg, holding the Curve to one run on four hits in six innings. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs.

The Curve return home tonight to begin a six-game homestand against Bowie and Hartford.
