Covering the bases

LEADING OFF: The Curve were off Monday, their final off day of the season. The team heads to Harrisburg for a three-game series starting tonight at 6:30.

SAFE AT FIRST: Pitchers tonight: Curve LHP Sean Brady (3-11, 4.51) vs. Senators RHP Jackson Tetreault (4-5, 4.43).

STEALING SECOND: The Pirates promoted RHP Cody Ponce to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday. Ponce was the pitcher the Bucs received from the Brewers in the trade deadline deal for P Jordan Lyles. Ponce went 0-0 with a 6.00 ERA in three games (one start) for the Curve. He struck out six with one walk in six innings.

ROUNDING THIRD: The Pirates sent LHP Cam Vieaux back to the Curve from Indianapolis, where he had some ups and downs. Vieaux went 4-2 with a 5.05 ERA in 13 starts for Indy, and he allowed more hits (63) than innings pitched (62.1). He struck out 61 and walked 29. Vieaux went 2-3 with a 2.86 ERA in nine starts for Altoona earlier this season to earn a promotion to Triple-A.

HEADING HOME: The Curve return home Friday for a six-game homestand against Bowie and Hartford.
