From Mirror reports

AKRON, Ohio — A rough third inning for starter Domingo Robles did in the Curve on Tuesday night as he gave up five runs and allowed Akron to take control of the game.

The RubberDucks tagged Robles to start the third and didn’t let up after reliever Yeudy Garcia came on later in the frame. The five-run inning carried Akron to a 7-2 win at Canal Park.

The Curve had been a season-high six games above .500 entering the game and will try to get back there once again in the series finale tonight.

Altoona then returns home for the Fourth of July on Thursday to begin a series against Erie.

The Curve grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Mitchell Tolman doubled and scored on a single by Jared Oliva.

Akron got to Robles quickly in the third with a single, double and sacrifice fly that tied the game. Ka’ai Tom followed with an RBI triple that put the RubberDucks on top to stay.

Three runs scored with Robles on the mound, and he departed after 21/3 innings with two runners on. Garcia gave up a run-scoring single and walked in a run with the bases loaded as Akron pushed the lead to 5-1.

The Curve offense didn’t threaten much the rest of the game, aside from an RBI double by Alfredo Reyes in the fifth inning.

Robles (2-2) took the loss, while Akron starter Jake Paulson (6-5) gave up two runs over six innings for the win. Robert Broom pitched two scoreless innings and got his first save for the RubberDucks.

SUBHD: All-Star Sulser

With pitcher James Marvel going up to Triple-A, it left the Curve with just two players slated for the Eastern League All-Star Game.

The league usually picks another player from the same team when that happens, and it selected reliever Beau Sulser to represent Altoona in next week’s game at Richmond.

Sulser is having a sensational season, with a 7-0 record out of the bullpen to go along with a 1.40 ERA in 20 appearances. Marvel leads the EL with nine wins, three others have eight, and Sulser is part of a group with seven, despite working out of the bullpen.
