LEADING OFF: The Curve were off Monday and will begin a series at Trenton tonight.

SAFE AT FIRST: The Curve and Thunder will begin play at 5 p.m. this evening to resume a game that was suspended because of rain on May 30. Altoona leads the game 6-0 in the top of the third inning. Once the suspended game is completed, the teams will play a second game.

STEALING SECOND: Pitchers for tonight’s game are TBD for both teams.

ROUNDING THIRD: The Pirates received RHP Cody Ponce in Monday’s trade with the Brewers for RHP Jordan Lyles. Ponce was in Double-A with the Brewers and will be assigned to the Curve. He was 1-3 with a 3.29 ERA in 27 relief appearances for Biloxi in the Southern League.

HEADING HOME: Prized SS prospect Oneil Cruz has been promoted from high-A Bradenton and is expected to make his Curve debut this evening. The 20-year-old played in just 35 games for Bradenton because of injuries, batting .301 with seven homers and 16 RBIs. Cruz is the Pirates’ No. 3 prospect, according to MLB.com.
