Covering the bases

LEADING OFF: The Curve and Erie were rained out Saturday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The teams waited out the rain for an hour and a half before the game was finally postponed.

SAFE AT FIRST: The rainout will be made up as part of a doubleheader July 23. The start time that day will be announced later.

STEALING SECOND: Altoona hosts Erie this afternoon at 2 in the final game before the Eastern League All-Star break. Curve RHP Cody Bolton (0-1, 7.71) will be opposed by SeaWolves RHP Anthony Castro (3-1, 3.97).

ROUNDING THIRD: Saturday was Curve manager Michael Ryan’s 42nd birthday. The Indiana, Pa., native is in his third season with the club, made the playoffs his first two years and won the EL title in 2017.

HEADING HOME: Following today’s game, the Curve will be off three days for the All-Star break. They’ll return to action Thursday with a four-game series at Erie.
