Athlete of the week achievement: Williams won the heavyweight championship at the Inter-County Conference/Heritage Tournament over the weekend. Earlier in the week, he pinned his opponent in 25 seconds in a win over United.
Season update: Williams is unbeaten in his return to the mat after missing last year with an injury.
Coach Brian Storm’s quote: “It’s great to have Daniel back on the mat this year. Last year during his injury, he was still coming to all of the practices and competitions helping lead the team as best he could. I think it was hard for him watching his teammates compete without him. Now he gets to show his leadership on the mat again. From the first practice you could tell he’s very determined to not only get back to where he left off but even better than before the injury. He’s pushing himself and his teammates everyday.”
