Brohm worthy of consideration

This a first. I didn’t agree with Neil Rudel or Cory Giger on Penn State’s next coach in last week’s PSU point-counterpoint.

No thanks to Matt Rhule. He might be good at cranking out 8-4 and 9-3 seasons at Penn State, but we’ve been there, done that. Thankfully, he signed at extension at Nebraska.

We need to make a splash hire. Brian Hartline? Cory mentions one of the reasons he backs him, and he says it’s “very important.” He knows “better than anyone else available how to actually beat Ohio State.”

We threw $3 million at The Mad Scientist and cackled that we had snookered the Buckeyes. And then the defense was disastrous against a team that hadn’t led in a game for the entire season and another team that was a 20-point dog at Beaver Stadium.

How about Jeff Brohm? I have no idea if he’s even interested.

But he has won some huge games at Louisville and would have resources at PSU that he’s never had.

The guy obviously can coach — not just developing players, but being a shrewd game-day tactician.
