Pitt’s Kyle Louis, Desmond Reed on Steele’s first team

PITTSBURGH — Pitt football was represented in Phil Steele’s annual preseason honors, highlighted by linebacker Kyle Louis and all-purpose standout running back Desmond Reid, who both earned spots on Steele’s Preseason All-America First Team.

Louis (linebacker) and Reid (all-purpose) were among the top players nationally recognized by Steele. Pitt is joined by Clemson and Miami as the only ACC programs with first-team All-Americans on Steele’s list.

Louis and Reid were named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-ACC First Team, with Reid earning honors as both a running back and punt returner. Louis secured his place on the league’s top defensive unit at linebacker.

Several more Panthers earned conference recognition: Lyndon Cooper, center, second team; Jimmy Scott, defensive end, second team; Rasheem Biles, linebacker, second team; Kenny Johnson, wide receiver, third team; and Rashad Battle, cornerback, third team.
