Nicolas sent to Triple-A Indianapolis

BRADENTON, Fla. — The Pittsburgh Pirates optioned right-handed pitcher Kyle Nicolas to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Pirates optioned catcher Henry Davis, infielder/outfielder Billy Cook and infielder/outfielder Nick Yorke to Indianapolis and also selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton to the 40-man roster and designated outfielder Joshua Palacios for assignment.

There are now 37 players remaining in the Pirates’ Major League camp.

Saturday’s game

The Pirates were no-hit in losing 4-0 to the Baltimore Orioles in an exhibition game in Bradenton.

Pirates starter Paul Skenes allowed one hit in 3.1 scoreless innings in his final start of the spring.

Sunday’s game

The Pirates were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays, 2-1, in Dunedin in their next-to-last spring game.

Jack Suwinski extended his hitting streak to five games with a double in his first at-bat.

The Pirates conclude the Grapefruit League season today against the Minnesota Twins in Fort Myers.
