P-O claims Mountain League

H.S. Golf

ORE HILL — Philipsburg-Osceola’s Chad Frank shot the afternoon’s low score of 75, and the Mounties shot a team score of 311 to top seven Mountain League opponents and clinch the Mountain League championship Tuesday at Iron Masters Country Club in high school golf.

Frank’s teammate Jake Vaux was two strokes back at 77 and Brandon Singer shot a 78.

Tyrone finished second with a team score of 331 thanks to 79s from Jake Taylor and Luke Brooks.

Huntingdon (337) and Central (357) finished in the middle of the pack, with Andon Suchan’s 76 leading the Bearcats, while the Dragons’ low scorer was Noah Bauman’s 85.

Altoona dominates

Altoona had a dominant showing at Park Hills Country Club, defeating Saint Joseph’s Academy in nine-hole match play, 42-6.

Scotty Lawhead, Marcus Lucas, Bob Mancinelli, Daniel Batrus, Lucas Muffie and Kyle Hite each won twice for the Mountain Lions, and Dom Fasolo won once and tied once.

Bisons top Tigers

BEDFORD — Eric Davis earned medalist honors after carding a 36, but Hollidaysburg came up short against Bedford, 211-213, at Bedford Elks Lodge.

Matt Tokarczyk led the Bisons with a 39, Jared Turner and Matt Edwards both shot 41s.

Stevens leads CC

EBENSBURG — Megan Stevens shot a 42 to lead Central Cambria in a 133-140 win over Ligonier Valley in high school girls golf action at Ebensburg Country Club.

Jaylee Sikora was two strokes back of Stevens with a 44 for the Lady Red Devils.

Medalist honors went to Maddy Pierce of Ligonier Valley, who shot a 40.

LIGONIER VALLEY (140): Pierce 40, Boyd 47, Adams 53.
