The Women's Club of Altoona has presented art awards to high school students for over 50 years.
This spring, the program was held at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Altoona.
The students' art teachers selected the winning entries. The art teachers from Altoona Area High School are Ronald Bowser, Laura Kozdra and Sharon Wall. Jana Sidler is the art teacher from Bishop Guilfoyle High School.
The Women’s Club of Altoona Art Awards were presented in the spring at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Altoona. The artworks ranged from the traditional work in pencil, watercolor, pen and ceramics, to more modern applications.
The students and their work were introduced by their teachers. The student then explained the inspiration and technique to the parents, club members and guests. The Women's Club presented the student winners with a certificate, ribbon and monetary award.
In addition to chairman Anne Dixon of the Student Art Awards, members were Joan Camberg, Mary Kay DeLeo, Janet Grove, Peggy Goodman, Betsy Happeny, Sandie Hollen and Deborah Thomas.
Anne Dixon and Peggy Goodman won WCA art awards as high school students.
