Emma E. Hamel, 77, Roaring Spring, died Thursday at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
She was born in Clearfield, daughter of the late William and Pearl (Dunlap) Troy. She married Sherwood Gene Hamel on May 9, 1959, and he preceded her in death Oct. 21, 1997.
Surviving are three daughters: Cheryl J. Hoover and husband, Del, with whom she resided, Tracey L. Tittle and husband, Joseph, of Bedford and Heather D. Turner and husband, Robert, of Brunswick, Ga.; four grandchildren: Daniel and Emily Hoover and Michael and Christopher Tittle; several nieces; and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Smith Graves.
Emma was a 1954 graduate of DuBois High School. She was a member of Liberty Bible Church in Bedford, and she enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren and watching Pittsburgh Steelers football.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2014, by Pastor David Greenwood. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
