Lawrence J. Ott, 83, Hollidaysburg, died Tuesday afternoon at his residence after an extensive illness.
He was the son of the late Adam and Hilda Ott. He married Catherine Viola Brawley on Oct. 13, 1956.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years; two sons: John R. and Donald R., both of Hollidaysburg; two daughters: Deborah L. Hicks of Hollidaysburg and Cindy L. Dempsie in Colorado; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: James in Georgia and Paterick of Duncansville.
Lawrence attended Hollidaysburg High School and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Berwind Railway, where he worked as an interior tank liner/blaster for 28 years. He was a 40-year member of the Frankstown Sportsmen's Association, serving as a membership secretary, and raised trout to be stocked in local streams. He orchestrated fish derbies for local kids and Intermediate Unit 8 children.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg. During this time, a funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday by Pastor Hud Crossman. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
