Evelyn M. Diehl, 88, Hollidaysburg, passed away Tuesday evening at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Chest Springs, daughter of Leo M. and Mary Alice (Goodrum) Plunkett. She married C. Ralph Diehl on Nov. 27, 1948, in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, and he died Oct. 18, 2006.
Surviving are a son, Kenton C. (Brenda L.) of Hollidaysburg; two daughters: Sandra L. Kalaora of Richmond, Va., and Candace M. Diehl of Hollidaysburg; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers: Jack, Paul and Donald Plunkett, all of Youngstown, Ohio; and four sisters: Jean Peters of Nicktown, Peggy Bender of Loretto, Patty Harpster of Altoona and Janet Stewart of York.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: James and Robert; two sisters: Rita Diehl and Betty Yoder; and a granddaughter, Jessica Diehl.
Evelyn had worked at Sylvania, then went to work at her husband's business, Diehl's Sheet Metal in Hollidaysburg. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, and the Spade and Trowel Garden Club. She enjoyed painting, bowling and taking care of family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by Father Anthony Legarski. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
