Anieta R. Graham, 97, passed to a better place Wednesday at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Kaneville, Ill., daughter of Michael and Katherine (Bailey) Grenninger. She met Thomas G. Graham in Millheim, and they were married Oct. 18, 1936. He preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2003.
Surviving are three daughters: Joyce (Chuck) Thompson of Altoona, Karen (Cliff) Thielman of Cleveland, Ohio, and Lucinda Barger and friend, Bob Haney, in Arizona; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Grenninger and his wife of Bellefonte.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Aileen Beightol.
In 1958, Anieta was one of the first employees hired by Unkel Joe's Woodshed. She worked there until her retirement in 1975. She was a life member of Simpson-Temple United Parish, where she was active on many committees, and she also belonged to the Red Hat Society at Hillcrest Apartments, where she had previously lived.
Anieta was very active on the Senior Bowling League at Pleasant Valley Recreation Center. She loved spending time with her extended family, playing cards and watching Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers games on TV. Knitting was a fun hobby of hers.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. today, April 4, 2014, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, the Rev. Denise M. Arpino officiating. Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
