Elsie M. Shultz, 86, rural Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly late Sunday morning at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Greenwood, Altoona, daughter of the late Albert V. Sr. and Mary A. (Hite) Moyer. She married Clyde R. Shultz on April 6, 1946, in Frankstown, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 2004.
Surviving are two daughters: Kathryn M. Rhodes of rural Martinsburg and Martha A. Engle of Bigler; two sons: James H. and wife, Diane, of Hollidaysburg and Jack R. and wife, Tammy, with whom she resided; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ruth Moyer of Altoona; and a brother, Donald B. of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by a son, David R., on May 29, 1955; a granddaughter, Brandi Tomasiello; a son-in-law, Lloyd Rhodes; three brothers: William, George and Albert V. Jr.; and two sisters: Helen Van Tassel and Florence E. Wilt.
Elsie was a member of the Cove Forge United Methodist Church, rural Williamsburg, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday school class. She enjoyed her role as a homemaker and also being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She also loved baking, cooking, canning and reading.
Friends will be received from 2 until the 3 p.m. public memorial service Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, Pastor Daniel H. Jordan officiating. Private inurnment will follow at Henry's Lutheran Cemetery at Yellow Springs, rural Williamsburg.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to Cove Forge United Methodist Church.
