The Hollidaysburg girls tennis team advanced to the Elite Eight round on Tuesday, thanks to a 4-1 win over DuBois in the first round of the Class AAA regionals held at The Summit Tennis & Athletic Club in Altoona.
The Lady Tigers, now 19-0, will play West Chester Henderson on Friday afternoon at the Hershey Racquet Club.
"The Philly teams are always phenomenal," Hollidaysburg coach Brian Denis said of his District 1 opponent. "But our girls have nothing to lose at this point. I really think we will be the most relaxed team in the final eight."
Hollidaysburg beat DuBois, 6-1, during the regular season.
"I was a little concerned [about playing them again] because our matches last week with Altoona and State College were so emotional. They were so intense," Denis said. "I kind of felt those matches would be more difficult [than DuBois]."
Hollidaysburg got singles victories from Marissa Lanzel at No. 1 and Maisie Supp at No. 2. The doubles teams of Elyse Smilnak and Alyssa Pheasant, along with Aly Baum and Helen Rose, also won.
