An Altoona woman used a high-heel shoe as a weapon, according to Logan Township police.
It started in the early morning hours of Dec. 12, 2012, at about 2:17 a.m. in the parking lot of The Island bar, 1304 Mill Run Road, with a scuffle, police said. A group of woman were fighting around and on a man's vehicle, and he told them to get away, prompting one of the women to hit him in the back of the head with one of her high-heeled shoes.
With his cellphone, the man was able to take a video of the the women - including the suspect - and gave it to police.
The suspect, Ashley N. Plunket, 1901 First Ave., was a mystery to police until July when authorities publicized the case through Blair County Crime Solvers, Logan Township police Chief Ron Heller said.
Logan Township police was flooded with calls after a still photo of the woman was released, Heller noted.
Plunket also called police on July 23 and said she had a hit a man at The Island in December, police said. When police questioned Plunket, she said some women were fighting around the cars in the parking lot and the man had yelled at them to get away from his vehicle. Plunket claimed the man made a threat that he had a gun, so she attempted to get a relative involved in the fight out of the situation. Police said Plunket said she was shoved by the man, so she hit him in the back of the head with one of her shoes, which she was holding in her hand.
Police said the woman was shown the video provided by the man and pointed herself out in the footage. That video, police said, will be used in court.
The man suffered a small painful and bloody cut, according to police. Police noted the man was intoxicated at the time but required no stitches after he was transported by ambulance to UPMC Altoona.
Police are charging Plunket with simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, Heller said.
