Lillian Erma Hyle, 91, Canoe Creek, rural Hollidaysburg, passed away late Thursday evening at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., daughter of the late Clair and Margaret (Cavanaugh) Clapper. She married Walter B. Hyle on June 6, 1943, in Williamsburg, and he passed away Nov. 22, 1990.
Surviving are four children: John and wife, Brenda, Bonnie Patz and husband, Don, and Frank, all of Hollidaysburg, and Jim and wife, Barb, of Kent, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Tracy O'Shea, Jason Hyle, Travis Hyle, Kristin Renyck, Steve Patz, Lisa Patz and Greg Patz; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jane McClaskey of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Hicks; and two brothers: infant Donald and Jack.
Lillian was of the Protestant faith and attended Williamsburg area schools. She was primarily a homemaker who enjoyed flower gardening, needlepoint, collecting angel figurines and doing puzzle books.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, Pastor Elsie Gonsman officiating. Private interment will be held at New Canoe Creek Cemetery, rural Hollidaysburg.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.
