Samuel J. "Joe" Mayhue, 62, formerly of Tyrone, died Tuesday afternoon at Valley View Home.
He was born in Philipsburg, son of the late Samuel and Rebecca (Dean) Mayhue. He was twice married, first to Linda K. Adams, who preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 2007, after 37 years of marriage. He then married Brenda J. Irvin on June 7, 2009, at Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Bellwood.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Jo; a son, William Joseph of Bellwood; a daughter, Wendy K. of Altoona; three grandchildren: Michael, Victoria and William J. Jr.; two brothers: Richard of Tyrone and John in South Carolina; and two sisters: Sandy Williams of Hershey and Neva Bell Mayhue of Huntingdon.
Joe retired as a heavy equipment operator at New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Tyrone Quarry, after 35 years of service. He was a member of Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Bellwood. He enjoyed doing yard work, landscaping, vegetable and flower gardening, camping, boating and tinkering in the garage, and he was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Friends will be received from 9:30 until the 10:30 a.m. memorial service Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, the Rev. Kathy Colebank officiating. Inurnment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society or Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Bellwood.
