Tammy E. Zimmerman, 50, Bellwood, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed peacefully in her sleep with her loving husband by her side, as he always was.
She was born in Bristol, daughter of Larry Sr. and Joanne (Leo) Johnson. She married the love of her life and best friend, Rick Zimmerman, on May 22, 1993, at Penn State-Altoona Chapel.
Surviving are her husband; three children: Tara Sprankle, Thaddeus (Heather) Sprankle, and Trista (Michael Dean) Sprankle, all of Bellwood; a stepdaughter, Angela (Justin) Miller of Las Vegas; four grandchildren: Gage and Landon Ansman, Ava Miller and Jaxson Dean; her father of Antis Township; a brother, Larry E. (Tammy) Johnson Jr. of Fairfax, Va.; two sisters: Kim (Steve) Evans and Christy Beam, both of Bellwood; her grandfather, Quentin "Ken" Johnson; and many nieces and nephews who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her mother on Nov. 15, 1988.
Tammy was employed as a bus aide and classroom support for Blair County Head Start, loving all of the children and families she cared for.
Tammy had a strong belief and faith in God and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Bellwood.
She loved riding motorcycles, hunting and shopping with her sister. Most of all she loved her family. Tammy was the most wonderful, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, Pastor Scott Beck officiating.
