L. Richard "Richie" Lawson, 81, Altoona, died Friday at Altoona Regional.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late James and Agnes Lawson. He married Delores Elmore on Nov. 25, 1954, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife; five sons: Stephen, Daryl, Bryan (Deborah), Clifford (Lisa) and Travis (Jessica), all of Altoona; nine grandchildren: Darly Lawson Jr., Sandra Lawson Pensyl, Jarvis, Darien and Brya Lawson, Alicia and Amanda Madden, Paris Lawson and Theo Lawson; three great-grandchildren: Daryl Lawson III, Shawn Michael Pensyl and Aalia Rose Pennicott.
Dick was predeceased by three brothers: James and Charles Lawson and William Hooe.
Richie was a member of Sixteenth Street Methodist Church and former member of Bethel AME.
He retired from Puritan Sportswear/Warnaco as a supervisor in the cutting department with 42 years of service.
He was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School and an Army veteran of the Korean conflict, where he received the Bronze Star.
Richie was a member of the Arandale Elks Lodge 184 I.B.P.O.E. of W.
Friend will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Sixteenth Street Methodist Church. Committal will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
