The Altoona Area school board election has candidates on the ballot who are taking positions about education that will produce significantly different results.
Most school district expenses go towards personnel, whether it is instructional or non-instructional. If the cuts are non-instructional, it affects the cleanliness and safety of our school buildings.
If it is instructional, it means higher class size and a detriment to the quality of education for our children. There needs to be a balance to providing a high quality educational program.
The taxpayers of the Altoona Area School District did not see their school taxes increase for 20-plus years, while the district maintained a fund balance and provided an exceptional educational program.
I urge you to vote for John Klingeman, Remy Styer-Slogik, John Donley and Skip Dry. Our future is our children. Don't let them be political pawns of individuals who are advancing their own political agenda.
