Darrell R. Diehl II, 48, Dysart, died Friday in Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of Barbara (Butterbaugh) and the late Darrell R. Diehl, who preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 2002. He married April B. Chamberlain on Aug. 23, 2008, in Duncansville.
Darrell's life was full of his family. Surviving are his wife of nearly five years; his mother; a daughter, Jessica and Bob Lego and granddaughter, Charlotte; a son, Darrell III, and grandchildren: Bailey and Adelynn; two sisters: Phyllis and Joe Koegler and children: Johnny, Brad and Barbie, and Mary Diehl and Bob Dennis.
Darrell was employed at PennDOT, Hollidaysburg. He was well known as a master mechanic. He accumulated a collection of mud racing trophies, having built his own trucks and cars, and was featured in Petersen's 4 Wheel & Off Road magazine and calendar. His family members were his biggest fans. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, fires in the backyard, working in his garage and enjoying time with his family.
A memorial service will be held at a later date convenient to his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Darrell may be made to the American Cancer Society.
