Harry L. Smith, 85, Antis Township, died Sunday evening at Graystone Manor at Bellmeade.
He was born in Antis Township, son of the late Ernest A. and Grace V. (Cherry) Smith. He married Louise M. Nicewonger on Feb. 1, 1950, in Geeseytown, and she died April 11, 2002.
Surviving are two sons: Harry L. Jr. (Chris) and Lynn F. (Linda), both of Antis Township; two daughters: Grace A. (Ken) Woodring in Georgia and Ada L. (Charlie) McKnight of Antis Township; eight grandchildren: Amy (Ray) Golden, Ken (Sarah) Woodring, Tracy (Shawn) McElravy, Mike McKnight, Amy (Kevin) Gottshall, Nathaniel Smith, Jessica (Todd) Mash and Joe (Julie) Smith; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers: David of Altoona, Paul of Antis Township and Dean in Ohio; two sisters: Ruth Dunn of Altoona and Rachel Miller of Williamsburg; and a special friend, Lottie Kochara of Gallitzin.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald R.; a brother, Eugene; and three sisters: Anna Kelly, Kay Flick and Ada Gardill.
Harry retired in 1992 as an equipment repairman in the Maintenance and Way Department at Conrail after 25 years of service. He was a member of Riggles Gap Bible Church. He enjoyed restoring and rebuilding old tractors and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Riggles Gap Bible Church, Pastor William Ice officiating. Interment will be at Antis Cemetery, Antis Township.
