Janet M. Boytim, 90, Tyrone, died Friday at her residence.
She was born in Tyrone, daughter of Chester E. and Gertrude (Budd) Williams. She married Robert M. Boytim on April 28, 1944, at the Columbia Avenue Methodist Church, and he died Aug. 27, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters: Sue Brubaker (Kenneth C.) of Williamsburg and Amy B. Baney (Grady) of Warriors Mark; five grandchildren: Bonnie Imler (Jeffrey) of Hollidaysburg, Lynne Bronson (Jim) of Pittsfield, Mass., Derek Baney (Sarah) of Petersburg, Va., Jared Baney (Nicole) of Tipton and Erin Baney (fiance, Ben) of Arlington, Va.; and six great-grandchildren: Gabriel and Kendrick Imler, Madelyn and Laura Bronson and Domanic and Paige Baney.
Janet was a 1941 graduate of Ebensburg-Cambria High School. She had clerked at various stores in the Tyrone area and had been employed as a baby sitter for a number of Tyrone families.
Janet was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher in the nursery department for 32 years. She was a former member of the pastor/staff committee and had served on various other church committees. She was a volunteer with the church meals program for 18 years, was on the Tyrone Area Food Bank board and was the volunteer coordinator of personnel for six years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Tyrone Chapter 288, and an associate member of the 726th Military Police Battalion WWII Association.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Church of the Good Shepherd, Tyrone, the Rev. Aden Wertz officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
