Fun Free Art Apps chase Boredom Away
February 2, 2013 - Emily Dimov-Gottshall
I've finally caught up with technology...well, at least a little. My dad-in-law got us a nice affordable tablet from Big Lots. I see why people like these things! Fun, hooks up to your wifi and full of potential apps to download these can really chase boredom away (as well as that awful cabin fever!).
If you go to your apps program list under app search, you can find a huge amount of art programs to play with. Some searches I did were: Art, camera, comics. These will generate all sorts of apps to chose from. A few of my favorites are Instagram, Comicstrip, Magic kaleidoscope, Paint Joy, and the Sketch Guru programs. Some are aimed at kids but honestly, who doesn't need a good dose of color, right now? Magic kaleidoscope really brightens up your day while you sketch some instant masterpieces. Plus, you can send them directly to your Facebook page, twitter or email to a friend. Instant fun!
I was skeptical about the programs and thought there would be some catch. The only downside probably is very minor in terms of usage. There are small ads on the site but again, very small. Plus, you'll immediately wish you had a large screen to play around with your art and give it more detail. Right now, I'm looking for a stylus to mimic my finger but from what I've learned these touch screens are made just for that touch (apparently, our fingers give off a small electrical charge and this is what activates the screen...not pressure. Pretty cool!).
Anyway, if you're feeling bored, have a little time and want to try something new to get your self inspired, this is a fun mess-free way to go. ;) Plus, there are coloring pages as well...yes, aimed at kids but after all, aren't we all really kids at heart. Have a good one!
