Don’t wait until it is too late

I was searching for information about my brother’s death, when I came across a briefcase that I had tucked away with the intention of looking through it when I had time.

As I began to look through it, I was amazed about the information that I found about my father’s enlistment papers into the service of the naval academy. It informed where he was stationed and what his duties were while serving our country.

Chills came over my body as I read of his accomplishments. I was very proud that day of his courage and dedication to his country.

Something I never would have known if that briefcase wasn’t found. … Wondering how he felt leaving behind a wife and children, going to parts of the country he had never been.

I read of his discharge and felt very proud of him that day. I felt him near me after I finished reading. Tears were present.

If you have someone who served our country, listen to his stories before it is too late. I regret that time will never come to me.
