The potential for violence during the 2024 presidential campaign has reached an all time high. Disturbing are comparisons to brutal military autocrat, dictatorship, Nazism, Hitler, fascism, etc.

My mother was born in Paris, France, and lived through the German Occupation for four years. She told me horror stories of this dictator, Hitler.

This regime rationed food, confiscated cars and homes. If accused of hiding members of the French Underground or out after curfew, you were shot on sight.

She watched, while boarding a train, the cattle car next to her being loaded with Jews headed for concentration camps.

Unless you experienced this dictatorship like my mother, you cannot make an accurate comparison, you do not have the knowledge, you were not a witness, you did not live through it.

We live in America. You and I know it could and never will be a Nazi Germany.
