More balance sought on editorial page

Wow, when I read the editorial page of the Oct. 6 Altoona Mirror, I thought I was reading another Republican news release.

Even the cartoon, (or better known as a political statement), derided President Joe Biden.

When I saw Cal Thomas’ headline, I first thought that he was referring to Trump and the Stormy Daniels affair.

As to the death statement in the headline, again I was thinking about how Trump said that the COVID virus would go away and only a few, 10 or 15 people would get it. Or was I thinking about his statement that we could inject a disinfectant?

As to the debt part of his headline, I thought Thomas was referring to the massive debt created by the Republicans that gave the millionaires and billionaires a massive tax cut.

Remember, that corporations like Amazon paid no federal taxes last year, and that’s no Mickey Mouse news.

President Biden has proposed legislation that would help the working class citizens of our country.

What’s wrong with wanting a good education for all children, safe drinking water for those who can’t afford to buy bottled water, lowering the price of prescription medication, a medical safety net and safe roads and bridges?

President Biden has stated that he will increase taxes on those making over $400,000 a year. What’s wrong with the wealthy paying their fair share?

It’s come to the place where the lower and middle classes can no longer provide welfare for the wealthy.

Remember that over 80 million people voted for President Biden, and there many Democrats that subscribe to the local newspapers.
