Truth needed for common good
What have our children learned from the presidential election of 2020?
One of the first lessons we teach our children is not to lie, or there will be consequences. We witnessed the effects of those lies on Jan. 6, 2021, when our citizens, encouraged and motivated by these lies, attacked our nation’s Capitol.
The truth is not always what we want to hear, and it often can be painful. However, that does not give us the right to alter the truth to serve our interests. As American citizens, we rely on our local, state and national elected officials to uphold the truth, not to enable false claims and widespread fraud for political gain.
Perhaps if we can instill in our children the value of telling the truth for the common good, then they will grow into the public servants we so desperately need right now.
I have hope.
God bless America
